Attention Deficit Difficulties / ADD / ADHD
There are two kinds of behavioural problems which stem from attention deficit difficulties.

So, individuals who experience ADHD or ADD difficulties are adversely affected by a recognised neurological condition, which has an impact on their development from the outset. Generally speaking, the key problem faced with ADHD and ADD relates to self regulation (managing conflict, self efficacy, problem resolution and impulsive behaviour).
Even though I have considerable experience of working with individuals with ADHD and ADD, I do not formally diagnose these problems. This is best done by multi disciplinary NHS teams including Psychiatrists and Psychologists. This is because medication issues are often involved. ADHD and ADD are normally diagnosed by interview and the completion of diagnostic questionnaires.
However, a psychological assessment can contribute valuable information with regard to practical educational interventions (particularly with regard to memory problems and inattentiveness).
